My husband and I are moving in T-minus 15 days and counting. We found this house 3 weeks ago, right up the street from where we’re currently living. Apartment life is the pits and we’re both definitely ready to get into a house of our own. Good-bye loud obnoxious children, good-bye nosey down stairs neighbor, good-bye neighbors upstairs who I can hear having relations and stomping about at ungodly hours, hello house!!

Granted we’re renting this house, but it’s so much better than what we currently have. I also get to redecorate!! Something I’ve been dying to do for a very long time, but oh boy did I under estimate just how much work painting a “couple” of rooms would be.

First I didn’t buy nearly enough tape. I bought just enough to tape off some windows, the bathroom and some of the molding. We still have a bedroom, hallway and living room to tape off. Next we over estimated how many plugs and switches we would need and just how many were almond colored (seriously who mixes white and almond in the same house??!!). Thankfully we got plenty of paint for the rooms, but not any paint to paint the trim. I assumed the trim was with in one of the bedrooms and it turned out to be ‘bone’. Hideous! What an eye sore. Speaking of eye sore some of the rooms have pretty white trim, with bone colored doors. Also the paint is pealing off in some places and taking down some existing light fixtures and shelves has left some unsightly holes in the walls. So we’re making a second list, checking it three times over and heading back to Home Depot.

I’m hoping that we’ll get all the painting done this weekend so we can start moving stuff in next week. Hears hoping!
